“Deep Data Science of Digital History” (D4H) is a new Doctoral Training Unit funded through the FNR’s PRIDE programme, that will launch in autumn 2022.

Benoît Majerus and Anne Roekens (Université Catholique de Louvain) have edited a special issue ‘Histories of Psychiatry’ of the Journal of Belgian History. Memorecord is a digital public history project. This crowdsourcing experiment combines community participation and academic research to offer a new perspective on the history of migration in Luxembourg. The project makes use of new communication technologies to approach history in a collaborative way.

BLIZAAR project develops new visualization techniques for the exploration of multimedia document collections

Data are not the same as sources and datasets need rigidly defined categories of information which does not allow for deviation and reinforces binary oppositions such as male and female.

This research examines differences in identity formation among generations of Czech, Slovak, French and Luxembourgish Jews who grew up either under communism or in liberal Western Europe. By gathering data, the aim is to create an international virtual library and cloud storage not only for professional educators, but also for the public. My focus is on the differences and similarities within and between generations, and on the changing historical and political circumstances of both state communism and established liberal democracy that have shaped individuals’ consciousness and identity.

The virtual exhibition of the history of Radio Luxembourg / RTL is the result of a research seminar at the University of Luxembourg, curated by students of the Master in Contemporary European History under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Fickers.
