2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage

The aim of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in 2018 was to raise awareness of Europe’s cultural heritage and the values it represents. A wide range of activities were organised, from traditional conferences to augmented and virtual reality experiences, guided tours and 3D animations. The notion of cultural heritage includes not only monuments and archaeological sites, landscapes and natural features and the collections held in museums, libraries and archives; it also covers intangible and digital aspects of resources inherited from the past.

The C²DH was therefore an ideal partner for this European Commission initiative, especially given the focus on raising public awareness. Several projects submitted by the C²DH were chosen by the official selection committee and granted the “European Year of Cultural Heritage” label:
