La Fondation internet nouvelle génération dédiait début 2015 son quatrième Carnet d’enjeux aux « controverses numériques » du présent et du futur. En filigrane émergeaient aussi des contro- verses du passé, dont témoignaient à la fois les repères chronologiques balisant la réflexion ou cette remarque introductive : «Nous sommes aussi tombés sur des controverses “mortes”, sur lesquelles rien n’a bougé depuis dix ans. »

Interview with Viviane Reding, Member of the Luxembourg Parliament from 1979 to 1989, Member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1999 and since 2014, Member of the European Commission from 1999 to 2010 and Vice-President of the Commission from 2010 to 2014, carried out by the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE) on 22 May 2015 at the Château de Sanem in the framework of the research project "Pierre Werner and Europe".

This paper unveils mutually constituent material, visual and metaphorical expressions of encounters between the human and the mechanical. It investigates circumstances and ways in which these expressions have come into existence, and captured and mobilised new forms of knowing and acting.
