This study investigates the diachrony of the Italian expression non c’è problema ‘no problem’ when used as a response marker (e.g., Tottie 1991; Ward 2006) to establish if it represents a case of language change (Milroy, 1992: 171). If on the one hand, the expression was indeed reported to be a neologism by Radtke in 1990, a careful exploration of the relevant literature on the other has revealed that a diachronic, quantitative and pragmatic investigation of its distribution has not been conducted yet.

Computerized machines can be found in many forms and all around us - in our pockets, and even sometimes in our body. For many of us, they are now essential elements of everyday life. When it comes to smartphones, connected objects, medical digital devices and e-health, these digital tools have proliferated in our environment, continually transforming our modes of social organization. They act as prostheses and orthotics that "enhance" our cognitive capacities and influence our inherent behaviors.

Die Geschichtsschreibung über Eupen-Malmedy in der bewegten Zeit von 1914 bis 1950 spiegelt immer wieder den vorherrschenden politischen Zeitgeist: Sie bietet Annexionsliteratur, Rechtfertigungsschriften für die Annexion, pseudowissenschaftliche Kampfschriften, nationalistisch-aggressive Publikationen der Westforschung, nationalsozialistische Erlösungsliteratur, ein langes Schweigen, wissenschaftliche Fachliteratur, Betroffenheitsliteratur, eine lange Suche nach der eigenen Identität und eine Europäisierung und Professionalisierung der Geschichtsschreibung auf Grundlage der Menschenrechte.

This paper looks at a specific set of corporate images, namely photographs of apprentices of the Luxembourg steel conglomerate ARBED, and analyzes how young workers are depicted in these images. The paper draws on a collection of 2,251 glass plate negatives (re)presenting ARBED’s industrial cosmos, including its vocational school the Institut Emile Metz. The roughly 160 images of apprentices contained in the collection put on display the apprentices’ bodies and a variety of activities in different contexts.

The focus of the article lies on the traditions of the current Russian diaspora to take care of the orthodox or soviet tombs and on how it shows the split of the Russian community.

Alexandre Serres’ PhD, “Aux sources d’Internet: l’!emergence d’ARPANET” (“The origins of the Internet: the Emergence of ARPANET”), defended in 2000, is quite influential in Francophone research literature and discourse on Internet histories. However, yet untranslated, it has remained little known in Anglophone scholarly circles.

Geschichte wird anhand von Quellen unterschiedlicher Herkunft erzählt und interpretiert. Die Fragen der Historiker entwickeln sich auch auf Grundlage ihrer verinnerlichten familiären Erzählungen über erlebte Geschichte. Kann diese Perspektive und ihre Konfrontation mit der archivalischen Überlieferung neue Sichtweisen auf die Vergangenheit ermöglichen? Wie können Historiker das Konzept des situativen Opportunismus nutzen, um die Entscheidungen der Zeitgenossen zu verstehen? Ein Denkanstoß.
