Andrew Pfannkuche received his B.A. in history from Illinois State University (2020) and his master’s degree in contemporary European history from the University of Luxembourg (2023). His dissertation, provisionally titled Making Global May Day traces the global history of the First of May (May Day) to ask how the day has evolved from a one-day strike for the eight-hour day to an international holiday dedicated to a brighter future that is just around the corner. Andrew is a former editor of The Activist. His other research interests include Albanian history, French history since 1789, Atlantic liberalism in the nineteenth century, and the intellectual development of the "broad Left."
