CfP International Summer School "Oral History Meets European Integration Studies. Testing new tools and methods in digital history"

The C²DH announces a Summer School co-organised with the European University Institute (Florence) and the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History (Frankfurt), to be held at the Maison Robert Schuman in Luxembourg City from 22 to 26 June 2020. This Summer School invites participants to test digital tools and methods for oral history and stresses how digital oral sources contribute to narratives in European Integration History.

The multiple facets of visualising history

The Forum Z on Visualising History in the 1535 Creative Hub in Differdange opened up different perspectives to the challenges of visualising history in accessible, entertaining and interesting ways. With the musical support of C²DHs Douglas Lambert and a live translation into English and German the Forum Z covered a lot of ground, from history paintings to different forms of virtual reconstructions up to building a time machine.

Integrating the digital into the academic curriculum of history - How to engage your audience

After launching the Ranke.2 teaching platform on digital source criticism in autumn 2018, I assumed that its appearance and form – short colourful animations and easy-to-digest chunks of information – would soon catch the attention of lecturers and encourage them to use it in their courses. But a recent meeting with colleagues made me realise that personal contact and hands-on experience with the material are key to making my target audience realise that the resource offers something they may need.
