How do historians investigate the past? What methods and tools do they employ, what are they trying to understand, and how do they transfer their findings to society?

How can historians tell the story of European integration – the story of Europe – in the digital age?

From 12 to 14 July 2017, the University of Glasgow hosted the 24th International Conference of Europeanists which explored the theme of “Sustainability and Transformation”. Elena Danescu (C²DH) gave a presentation entitled “Shaping Economic and Monetary Union in the 1970s – Theoretical Debates and Political Networks.

To help us understand the Europe of today and discuss the Europe of the future, the C²DH, with the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg and their partners, is pleased to invite you to the conference “Shaping the Europe of the future” with guest speaker Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission.

On 15 June 2017, Dr Elena Danescu (C²DH) was invited to give a lecture at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Luxembourg in the framework of an event held in honour of Pierre Werner.

What was/is European security in the context of the Cold War? How was and is it conceived? What role did “non-powers” play in European security, and how did they help define it? These were the main questions discussed during the conference held by the C²DH in March 2017.
