Vera was working on the "History of justice in Luxembourg" project as a Research associate

Vera holds a PhD in contemporary history from the University of Aix-Marseille, France. Before joining the C²DH, her research focus was on European integration history, in particular integration through law and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union. She is currently working on a project which explores the history of Luxembourg’s justice from the aftermath of the French Revolution until today. The justice history project puts a particular focus on the establishment of Luxembourg’s constitutional bases and the separation of powers under the liberal constitution introduced in 1848, as well as the consolidation of the judiciary in 1885. It also plans to delve into the periods of occupation during the two World Wars, as well as the transition to a liberal legal system and the supremacy of international/EU law over national law.
