On Monday 29 January 2018, the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) and the Luxembourg Ministry of Justice signed an agreement to launch a research project that will explore more than 200 years of the history of justice in Luxembourg.

The director of the C²DH was being interviewed by Ricardo M. Pimenta for the Brazilian magazine on Digital Humanities "Revista Z Cultural".

We are inviting submissions of papers to be considered for publication in the second issue of the Journal of Historical Network Research, which will appear in the autumn of 2018.

The new book ‘Western Europe 2018’, edited by Cathy Hartley and published on 22 November 2017 by Routledge, features contributions from researchers at the University of Luxembourg.

Le C²DH, en collaboration avec la Radio 100,7, produit une série de podcasts consacrée à la vie et à l’œuvre politique de Pierre Werner.

Réalisé dans le cadre de l’exposition « La Forge d’une société moderne. Photographie et communication d’entreprise à l’ère de l’industrialisation ARDEB 1911-1937 », le DKollektiv a développé, en collaboration avec des élèves du Lycée Technique Privé Emile Metz, le projet Espace sans échelle, autour des plaques de verre conservées dans l'ancien Institut, qui retracent les heures de gloires de l’industrie sidérurgique du Luxembourg.

Sur son stand aux "Rendez-vous de l'histoire" début octobre à Blois, le C²DH a présenté ses principales activités de recherche en mettant l’accent notamment sur les trois axes thématiques suivants : l’histoire contemporaine du Luxembourg, l’historiographie numérique et l’histoire européenne.

During the ForumZ conference “A new narrative for Europe: Quo Vadis?”, the internationally renowned Belgian artist Pierre Kroll showcased how press cartoons contributed to write the history of European integration. Part of his work is shown below.

On 27 September 2017, a new website was launched by CegeSoma (the Belgian Centre for Historical Research and Documentation on War and Contemporary Society): Belgium World WarII. A virtual platform on Belgium and its population during WWII.

The program for the 4th dhnord conference is now online. dhnord2017 is the fourth edition of the annual Digital Humanities conference organized by the Maison européenne des sciences de l'homme et de la société (MESHS). This year's edition is co-organized with the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH). The theme is: "(De)constructing Digital History". The conference will take place in November 27-29, 2017 in Lille, France. 

In this essay, I would like to reflect upon what happens when archival material and research are transferred into the three-dimensional physical space of a museum. A main focus will be on what happens when restored, digitised and partly retouched glass plates are framed and staged in a museum setting.

Within the framework of the research project "Failure and Success of Dummy Head Stereo: An innovation history of 3D listening", Stefan Krebs and Andreas Fickers produced a binaural radio play about the history of binaural stereo.

What was/is European security in the context of the Cold War? How was and is it conceived? What role did “non-powers” play in European security, and how did they help define it? These were the main questions discussed during the conference held by the C²DH in March 2017.

The third ForumZ focused on the future of storytelling and explored how the emergence of the digital era affected the age-old art of telling tales.

The history of archives and archiving practices needs to be seen as closely related to trends and fashions in historical research, its methodological underpinnings and its definitions of culture.

When the first ForumZ with the topic Archives for the digital era, organized by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), took place on 11 February, many interested people found their way to the Casino – Forum d’art contemporain in Luxembourg City on that Saturday morning. Thanks to the hashtags #ForumZLu and #archivesforthefuture, they could also actively participate in the debates over the Twittersphere.

The ForumZ series started with an event on “Archives for the digital age. Challenges and opportunities” at the Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'art contemporain.

On 25th March, the C²DH organised another successful ForumZ, this time on the Second World War and research perspectives in this area. The format chosen for the event promoted an interactive exchange between the public and the guest speakers.
