Over the past few years, interdisciplinary research projects such as Oceanic Exchanges, Living with Machines, Numapresse or NewsEye, all worked towards the semantic enrichment, integration and computational analysis of historical newspaper collections across institutional, national and linguistic boundaries. Against this background, we propose to present a new project: "impresso - Media Monitoring of the Past II.

Special episode today within the DePOT podcast series: Affiliates at the University of Luxembourg examine the steel crisis in Luxembourg in the 1970s and the deindustrialization of East Germany's steel sector after 1990. Stefan Krebs, the head of the project Confronting Decline (CONDE) is joined by two PhD students, Zoé Konsbruck and Nicolas Arendt to discuss their research into the impacts industrial closure had on steel towns, with a particular emphasis on transnational comparisons.

The presentation deals with the problems of the data transfer being collected for research purposes in CatDV audiovisual assets management tool and the being transferred for the public access on the open born-digital collections platform Oral History Digital (OH.d)

The presentation treats the following questions: What kind of meta data (personal, technical, etc.) and for how long should it be collected, stored and disclosed in a born-digital interview archive? How the meta data should be collected, extracted and analysed within an Oral History research project and beyond? Is the transcription always needed or an index would be sufficient?

Expert interview to develop future scenarios for what a cultural heritage digital infrastructure at a national or transnational level could look like.

The Presbytery of the Robert Schuman house hosted a one-day workshop about children, welfare, and borders, bringing together scholars from across Europe to collaborate on a special issue edited by Prof. Machteld Venken (C²DH) and Dr. Dominika Gruziel (EUI).

The online exhibition “Minett Stories” (https://minett-stories.lu) was developed in connection with Esch2022 European Capital of Culture. The aim of the “Remixing Industrial Pasts for the Digital Age” (REMIX) project was to tell the history of the Minett, the industrial region in the south of Luxembourg, to a broad audience.

„Minett Stories“ (https://minett-stories.lu) erzählt für ein breites Publikum die Geschichte des Minetts, der Industrieregion im Süden Luxemburgs. Sie stellt nicht die Entwicklung der Bergbau- und Hüttentechnik, der großen Hüttenwerke und Stahlbarone in den Mittelpunkt, sondern die Alltagsgeschichte einer Industrieregion. Die Online-Ausstellung wurde im Mai 2022 im Rahmen der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Esch2022 der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Der Vortrag beschreibt die Entwicklung und Umsetzung des Ausstellungskonzepts.

Digital humanities has a critical role in the progress of the data visualisation field. First, humanities scholars engage with the concept of knowledge as interpretation. Second, they leverage computational tools and statistical methods to analyse and visualise data and metadata. Finally, Digital Humanities projects are a space for experimentation where different epistemic cultures (which often go beyond the Humanities and Computer Science) negotiate new forms of knowledge.
