In the aftermath of World War II, two migration streams entered Belgium: former allied soldiers from Poland and former Ostarbeiterinnen from the Soviet Union. This book focused on these people's attempts to give meaning to their war experiences in post-war life, and delineates the various processes they used to understand and articulate what they have been through.

In the authors’ aim to go beyond the ‘silent’ school desk they returned to sources such as public contracts, photographs, advertising leaflets and (the often neglected) patents kept in the municipal archives of Brussels. In this article, they focus on the first half of the twentieth century and two phases of the ‘life-cycle’ of the school desk, namely the design phase on the one hand and the production phase on the other hand. This Article analyses events in Greece from 1944 to 1947, and the way in which they were used by the British to stoke anti-communist sentiment and action in the US government.

Due to intensive growth of the electronically available publications, bibliographic databases have become widespread. They cover a large variety of knowledge fields and provide a fast access to the wide variety of data. At the same time they contain a wealth of hidden knowledge that requires steps of extra processing in order to infer it. In this work we focus on extraction of such meta knowledge from the research bibliographic databases by looking at them from sociolinguistic, text mining and bibliometric perspectives.
