« Internet, une histoire belge ? » Cette affiche accueille le visiteur dans le hall du Mundaneum, au cœur de Mons, ville belge qui se prépare à devenir capitale européenne de la culture en 2015. Le slogan est l’un des nombreux signes de l’actuelle volonté de réappropria- tion de l’histoire de l’Internet par les Européens, visant à sortir d’une vision trop centrée sur les États-Unis. Surtout, il inscrit d’emblée le projet d’Henri La Fontaine et Paul Otlet dans la lignée des utopies et travaux que le monde numérique intègre aujourd’hui à sa généalogie.

This Bibliography is part of the major research project dedicated to the European vocation and achievements of Pierre Werner, a former Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Foreign Minister of Luxembourg, unanimously recognised as one of the architects of Economic and Monetary Union. The first stage of the research was particularly focused on the plan for the establishment by stages of an economic and monetary union (more widely known as the Werner Report or the Werner Plan), drawn up by a group of experts chaired by Pierre Werner and officially presented on 8 October 1970 in Luxembourg.

It contains a significant number of undiclosed texts coming from the Werner family private archives opened for the first time for scientific purposes.

This chapter introduces systems biology, its context, aims, concepts and strategies. It then describes approaches and methods used for collection of high-dimensional structural and functional genomics data, including epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics, and how recent technological advances in these fields have moved the bottleneck from data production to data analysis and bioinformatics.

Le Groupement d’Intérêt Public RENATER est officiellement constitué au début de l’année 1993, mais l’histoire des réseaux pour la Recherche et l’Enseignement a commencé en France et en Europe dès les années 1970. Certains centres de calcul et équipes scientifiques n’ont pas attendu le déploiement de RENATER pour utiliser les réseaux, afin de partager la puissance de calcul, effectuer des transferts de fichiers ou encore communiquer via les messageries. Cependant, les solutions mises en place sont hétérogènes, souvent incompatibles et onéreuses, les moyens dispersés.

Facets can provide an interesting functionality in digital libraries. However, while some research shows facets are important, other research found facets are only moderately used. Therefore, in this exploratory study we com- pare two search interfaces; one where the facets panel is always visible and one where the facets panel is hidden by default.
