The digital turn is having a major impact on geopolitics in terms of power, governance and regulation, leading to a proliferation of stakeholders and networks at multiple levels, new dynamics of competition, and novel ways of working. Digital technologies have also brought about a paradigm shift in information and communication systems, with the emergence of new media that will have a long-term impact on individual and collective democracy. (New) media have a key role to play in these challenges.This paper grounded in an interdisciplinary approach will draw on relevant archives to examine theoretical, conceptual and methodological frameworks and explore these issues.
