Media Monitoring of the Past is an interdisciplinary research project in which a team of computational linguists, designers and historians collaborate on the datafication of a multilingual corpus of historical media. The primary goals of the project are to improve text mining tools for historical text, to enrich historical documents with (semi-) automatically generated data and to integrate such data into historical research workflows by means of newly developed user interfaces.

La mise à disposition pour la recherche de données issues du Web archivé correspond à une tendance engagée au sein des institutions patrimoniales depuis les années 2010. Elle se matérialise à l’échelle européenne puis internationale de manière assez inédite à la faveur d’une étude sur l’archivage des traces numériques de la crise de la COVID-19 à partir de 2020.

Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) marked a major step in the European integration history. Inspired by the Werner Report (1970) and the ideas of Robert Triffin, based on the Delors Report (1989) and following the design laid out in the Maastricht Treaty (1992), EMU implies the coordination of economic and fiscal policies, a common monetary policy, and the euro as a single currency, which is shared by 20 EU Member State (the euro area). The euro ranks second in the international monetary system, behind the US dollar. However, EMU remains incomplete.

These courses explor the geopolitical upheavals brought about by the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 (German reunification, the collapse of communism, the break-up of the USSR, the end of the Cold War, etc.) and their consequences on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEECs), which turned westwards (to the EU and NATO) as they sought to transition to the rule of law and a market economy in a new area of Euro-Atlantic security rooted in multilateralism.

The paper presents preliminary results from our experiments with large language models, linked data, and semantic change in multilingual diachronic contexts.

The Luxembourg Time Machine (LuxTIME) is an interdisciplinary project that studies the historical exposome during the industrialization of the Minett region, located in the south of Luxembourg. Exposome research encompasses all external and internal non-genetic factors influencing the health of the population, such as air pollution, green spaces, noise, work conditions, physical activity, and diet.

Web archives as “born digital” source collections come with multiple biases, both concerning the archived web pages and web sites themselves, the web collections (notably those created on precise events, like Paris terrorist attacks and the COVID-crisis), and the metadata.

Résumé de l'ouvrage : Si communiquer est aujourd’hui pour les scientifiques une injonction, ce livre a pour ambition d’explorer les arcanes des processus éditoriaux, communicationnels ou de vulgarisation, et de mettre en lumière les évolutions de cette activité inhérente aux sciences. La communication s’est ainsi, au fil du temps, codifiée, normalisée, du fait des scientifiques, d’institutions académiques d’État, d’éditeurs ou d’entreprises médiatiques. De façon générale, elle nécessite un émetteur, un message et un destinataire.

Les " longues " années 1960 constituent une période particulièrement pertinente pour étudier les relations entre les annonceurs, les supports médiatiques et les audiences en Europe occidentale, alors que les études de marché entrent dans une phase de professionnalisation et de diversification des méthodes.

This paper will explore a key question for historians today: what are the politics of cultural heritage digitisation and its implications for historical research? And how to assess this from a global perspective? In a research environment that increasingly privileges what is available online, the questions of why, where, and how we can access what we can access, and how it affects historical research have become ever more urgent.
