            Die vorliegende Teiluntersuchung beschäftigt sich mit den 3.100 russischen Kriegsgefangenen, die 1918 Luxemburg passierten. Etwa 300 blieben nachweislich in Luxemburg, da die sowjetische Ideologie in ihrer neuen Heimat, die nun Russische Sowjetische Föderative Sozialistische Republik hieß, sie nicht ansprach. In einer mikrohistorischen Perspektive werden mehrere Schicksale vorgeführt, anhand derer man zum einen die Bedingungen dieser Emigration versteht, die sich zwar auf neutralen Boden

            "Chosen Fighters of the Jewish People": Jewish volunteers in the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War

            During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) around 35000 volunteers from many countries fought in the so-called International Brigades that were created and organised by the Communist International. Roughly 4000 of these volunteers were of Jewish descent. In december 1937, the Jewish Naftali Botwin company was formed within the 13th Polish Dombrowski Brigade as a result of lobbying efforts by Polish-Jewish migrant communists in Paris.

            Robert Triffin, a 'personal equation'

            Robert Triffin (1911-1993), a Belgian-born economist who spent much of his career in America, had a major influence on 20th-century economic thinking. He is particularly known for his monetary approach. His intellectual legacy revolves ariund the 'Triffin dilemma' or 'Triffin paradox'. Triffin accurately predicted the end of the Bretton Woods system, though not for the right reasons.
