I was a Visiting Scholar at IES from August 2017 to Feb 2018, and from March 1st 2018, I will become an IES Senior Fellow. Als 1917 die Revolution Frauen den Männern gleichstellt, ist die Sowjetunion das fortschrittlichste Land der Welt: Frauen dürfen wählen, studieren und in die Politik gehen.

Gegenstand des Projekts ist die Konstruktion des Zeitzeugendiskurses mehrerer führender Mitglieder der deutschen Militärverwaltung in Brüssel. Arbeitshypothese ist, dass die Konstruktion in drei Phasen verlief: Der „Generalprozess“ (1950-1951) gegen Alexander von Falkenhausen und Eggert Reeder (gefolgt von einer Reihe anderer Prozesse bis in die 1980er Jahre hinein). Die Legitimierungs- und Verteidigungsdiskurse einiger Akteure gegenüber Anschuldigungen, die ihre Tätigkeiten während des Krieges betrafen.

Von ihrer Gründung in den letzten Kriegsmonaten 1918 bis zu Ihrem Ende in den 1970er Jahren war Le Flambeau die dominierende politische und literarische Zeitschrift des belgischen frankophonen Liberalismus. Drawing on archives gathered in the six founding member states of the European Union, this book offers a new perspective on the "constitutionalization" of the European treaties, which was launched in the 1960s by the Court of Justice of the EU. By highlighting the professional and personal backgrounds of the first European judges and advocates general, its author studies the dynamics which prevailed within the institution during its "revolutionary" years and analyzes the Court’s relationship with the Member States of the European Communities.

Cultural Heritage education relies on a solid foundation of scientifically validated knowledge. This case study shows how different disciplines come together to source, combine, and interpret data for a landscape reconstruction of Larochette, Luxembourg. It is the initial stage of a larger interdisciplinary project to create an educational game that highlights the tangible and intangible heritage that can be traced in the town's structures even today.

This paper draws upon different media, their contents, close relationships to lived life, and the memories and stories evolving around them. Challenging linear historical time, the paper looks at the interconnectedness of different media and how these connections and constellations shape histories. The different media analysed in this paper are perceived as an interactive and active collective of “ongoing moments” (Dyer 2007) and nodes that reinforce each other and relate to different audiences (e.g., Edwards 2009).
