In the field of European integration history and Europeanisation, the master narrative was built for a long time on the “founding fathers” syntagma, overlooking the role of women. Drawing on this and adopting an interdisciplinary approach, exploring a wide range of existing archives, creating multimedia sources through synergies with the HAEU, and using digital methodology, Elena Danescu’s research project “The female face of Europe…” is aiming at generating and disseminating new knowledge focused on the representation and influence of women in shaping the European history and democracy, through the lens of their individual trajectories, personal narratives and transnational networks. In this presentation Elena Danescu will illustrate her hypothesis with examples of original interviews resulted from the oral history research “The role of women in European and international relations in Luxembourg” (2022-2025), developed at the University of Luxembourg.
