This article aims to offer a methodological contribution to digital humanities by exploring the value of a mixed-method approach to uncover and understand historical patterns in large quantities of textual data. It refines the distant reading technique of topic modelling (TM) by using the discourse-historical approach (DHA——Wodak, 2001) in order to analyse the mechanisms underlying discursive practices in historical newspapers.

This article explores a novel way to understand the process of diasporic identity formation by comparing the discursive structure of Italian diasporic newspapers published in the United States with the baseline of public discourse in Italy. It uses as its evidence Italian language newspapers published in the United States from 1898 to 1920 (ChroniclItaly) and the Italian newspaper La Stampa published in Italy between 1867 and 1900.

This pilot project aimed at building an online portal that provides informa tion about the intersec tion of Jewish Studies and Digital Humani ties. The prototype website that we created (internal only) will be further developed in 2020 with a second stage grant.

the discussion is dedicated to the question whether it is possible to overcome the power asymmetry between researchers and their subjects in the study of childhood, or at the very least to reduce the gulf between researchers and the objects of their studies. the “new sociology of childhood” places the individual personality of the child and their personal interests at the centre of scholarly investigation, though its central presuppositions remain largely controversial.

The course presentation contains the concept of the bilateral seminar for the students of the University of Luxembourg and the University of Tambov which was conducted 2018-2019 in Luxemburg and Tambov on site and 2020 online. The historical connection between two cities through the prisoners of war and the civil forced labourers from 1942 until 1944 and their exchange in 1945 created a base for the deeper research in this intersection and the search for the other ones.

The Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) plays a crucial part in historical and political discourse for the construction of a Ukrainian national identity and contributes to the myth of the ‘two Ukraines’: a Pro-European Western Ukraine that glorifies the OUN as heroes of independence on one hand, and pro-Russian Eastern Ukraine defaming them as ‘Nazi-collaborators’ and ‘russophobic’ agents on the other.

This special issue dedicated to the 90s as a turning decade for Internet and the Web highlights the developments and choices – both technical and economic, but also cultural, societal and political – that contributed to the massification of the Internet and the discovery of the Web by the general public.

One of the characteristic features of modern life is the omnipresence of images - in public life as well as in the private surroundings. At latest with coining the term "Visual history" at the beginning of the nineteen nineties historical disciplines are dealing with this ever growing pool of pictorial sources. This is also true for educational history - especially when keeping in mind that the use of images in an educational context is common practice since early modern ages.
