            Women and European Integration: Lessons from History

            After the 1957 Rome Treaties, which introduced the principle of gender pay parity, research began to open up to questions surrounding equality and women’s role in political processes and European integration. Since the mid-1970s, further attention has been given to women in international relations, with a particular focus on pacifist activism during the Second World War, the development of the feminist movement, human rights, gender and intersectionality, and women in post-war diplomacy.

            Museen, Archive und historische Wissenschaften haben sich innerhalb eines sich wandelnden technologisch-epistemologischen Kontextes schrittweise an partizipatorische Formen des Sammelns, der Forschung und der Erarbeitung historischen Wissens angenähert. Dieser Prozess war begleitet von der Ausweitung historischer Quellenarten und Forschungsfragen, von der stärkeren Gewichtung des Erinnerns und der interpretativen Leistung historischer Akteure sowie von einer Vielzahl neuer medialer Formen, die das Zeigen, Schreiben und Erzählen von Geschichte veränderten.

            The "Personenstandsaufnahme" of 10 October 1941, a census conducted by the German occupier in Luxembourg with additional questions on nationality, mother tongue and ethnicity, is one of the best-known historical events in Luxembourg's contemporary history. Together with the strike against forced recruitment in August/September 1942, it remains an integral part of the culture of remembrance and historiography to this day.

The practices ofselection, curation, and interpretation of archival sources have been deeply affected by newscientific virtues such as accessibility, sharing, and participation. Web 2.0 technologies and the Internet gave rise to a new type of archive resulting from real time “capture culture” and “event crawls”.
