Corporate governance

The C²DH is built on a governance model aimed at empowering all people working at the Centre, focusing on strengths and skills and driven by the principle of “shared authority and shared responsibility”. The goal is to become a community of practice based on a moral economy of shared authority and accountability, with transparent decision-making processes, a shared information policy and the strategy of creating a unified approach between operational and governance tasks. The main operational responsibility lies with the Management Team, which is composed of seven people:

To facilitate the successful integration of the C²DH into Luxembourg society and public life, an Advisory Board has been set up, composed of a number of key figures known for their expertise in the political, economic and cultural sector. The role of the members of the Advisory Board is to advise, assist and support the Director of the C²DH. The Advisory Board members are:

The Centre also has a Scientific Committee, which plays a key role in quality assessment. The Scientific Committee meets on a yearly basis to evaluate scientific output and give strategic advice on the development of future research projects, network activities and outreach initiatives. The members of the Scientific Committee are:

  • Prof. Pascal Griset, Professor of the History of Technology and Industry at Sorbonne University and Director of the Institute for Communication Sciences (ISCC)
  • Prof. Tim Hitchcock, Professor of Digital History and Co-Director of the Sussex Humanities Lab
  • Prof. Dietmar Hüser, Professor of Contemporary European History and Speaker of the Tri-national Doctoral School of the Universities of Saarland, Luxembourg and Sorbonne
  • Prof. Simone Lässig, Director of the German Historical Institute Washington
  • Prof. Pelle Snickars, Professor of Media and Communication Studies at Umeå University
  • Prof. William Thomas, Angle Chair in the Humanities and Professor of History, Faculty Fellow, Center for Digital Research in the Humanities at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
  • Prof. Frank van Vree, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Amsterdam and Director of the Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies (NIOD)
