Maxime worked on the 'Remixing Industrial Pasts in the Digital Age' project as a Research associate

Dr. Maxime Derian obtained his PhD in Socio-Anthropology from the Paris 1 University Panthéon - Sorbonne in 2013. His work focused on the medical and social impact of digital prosthetics such as implanted digital devices, artificial limbs, e-Health wearables and on the anthropological and ecological consequences of the mass spreading of smartphones and tablet computers.

He has also studied at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Titech) and he participated in the management of digital resources of the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). He worked as postdoctoral researcher at the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) on the daily use of limb prosthetics (such as bionic limbs, artificial hands and/or feet) by patients affected by limb agenesia.

His current work is dedicated to the historical and on-going mutation of the Terres Rouges region, in order to shed light on some aspects of our post-industrial society in the digital age.
