Aliénor Gandanger is a PhD candidate in a cotutelle between the University of Caen (France) and the university of Luxembourg’s Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH).

After a research master's degree in History at the University of Caen with an Erasmus year at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Aliénor turned to a master's degree in Public History at the University Paris Est de Créteil (UPEC).

With her atypical background, mixing Art & History (cinema, comics, children's book), she is studying the subject of wartime godmothers during the First World War. A theme about women, about relationships, about emotions. She is also working with a cartoonist on the development of a comic book. Through this field of exploration, Aliénor will answer these main questions: how do you collaborate as an historian with a cartoonist? How do you turn an academic history subject into a comic book? How to portray a wartime godmother through a comic book heroine?
